Standards Institute’s (CLSI) newly revised Procedures
for the Collection of Diagnostic Blood Specimens by Venipuncture (H3-A6) provides those who perform, teach and manage blood specimen
collection procedures with a highly detailed document on the proper
performance of the routine venipuncture. The revision contains important
new considerations regarding specimen labeling, drawing from arms receiving IV fluids, nerve injury
prevention, and much more.

phlebotomy authorities and experts retained as by CLSI from across the
US and took over a year to complete. By
a special arrangement with CLSI, the Center for Phlebotomy Education is
able to make the revised standard available as a downloadable (pdf)
