The Center for Phlebotomy Education announces the availability of four scholarships to students of their Phlebotomy Technician Program in 2012. The scholarships, which covers nearly 40 percent of student tuition and supplies, are being underwritten by Greiner Bio-One Inc., a leading manufacturer of medical devices in the blood collection industry.
Successful applicants for the scholarships will have an above-average academic record and a documented history of volunteer service and community involvement. This involvement may be through service organizations, church groups, school-affiliated organizations or clubs, etc. For candidates without recent academic activity, a history of job stability may be accepted in lieu of an academic record.
The Center for Phlebotomy Education is located in Corydon, Indiana and offers both day and evening classes. Students graduating from the program receive a Phlebotomy Technician Certificate and become eligible to take a national certification exam. Prior graduates of the program have found immediate employment in hospitals and laboratories in both Indiana and Kentucky. Phlebotomists draw blood for diagnostic testing at hospitals, doctor’s offices, laboratories, and other healthcare facilities and providers.
All applicants will be expected to write a brief essay. For applicants using academic records to support their application, a copy of their high school transcript and diploma is required. Older applicants using a stable work history to support their application must provide a copy of their high school diploma or GED and name of employers, dates of employment, contact name and phone number.
