CLIAC letter---text of an August 22, 2013 address by Center for Phlebotomy Education Director Dennis J. Ernst MT(ASCP) at a Clinical Laboratory Improvement Advisory Committee (CLIAC) meeting in Atlanta on the need for standardized training for all who draw and handle blood samples. The agency, which advises the U.S. Department of Health Services on clinical laboratory regulations and personnel requirements, has yet to act on this critical issue.
